Introduction to Sound Therapy

Saturday 17 June 4pm to 6pm

This workshop is an introduction to sound therapy. It will start by taking participants on a sound journey and end with practical exercises performed in pairs and with the group to demonstrate various aspects of this, including sound diagnosis and treatment.

During the Sound Therapy Workshops we will experience the Ocean drum, the Buffalo Drum, Tibetan Singing Bowls, the crystal bowl, and explore the power of the voice and overtone chanting.

From this workshop, you can take basic exercises home, to practice on friends and family to develop your skills of attunement and understanding the therapeutic application of sound. You need no previous experience of sound therapy to benefit from this workshop.

A basic understanding of sound therapy and use of singing bowls is also useful in yoga classes, for any teacher who wants to add an extra dimension to relaxation sessions / savasana or to improve the quality of meditation sittings.

After completing the introductory workshop, you qualify to attend a 7 week sound course, that starts later in the year, if you wish to develop your skills as a sound therapist.

The content of the course will be given in advance so if you wish to attend specific sessions, or attend the whole series, either are fine.

£25 for session (£20 for Concessions: students / retired / unemployed; £10 for people with full Hope Studio Membership)
